Pest Library: Yellow Jackets

(Click on an image to enlarge)

Yellow jackets are social insects about 1/2" inch in length. They are usually marked with bright yellow and black stripes. These insects have four wings and are excellent fliers. They will build a nest in a tree, overhang, underground or even in a wall void. When the nest is built in a tree or an overhang, they will contain the nest in an enveloping cover to protect the eggs and larvae.
